Magento 2 as a platform for SME shops
Magento 2 is an Open Source e-commerce platform launched in 2015 as the successor to Magento 1. It is often chosen by SME shops that want to scale, need integrations with ERP or PIM, or want to run B2B and B2C flows in one installation. Magento has a steeper learning curve than SaaS platforms like Shopify, but in return gives you control over how your shop runs.
What a Vendic Magento 2 specialist does
We have worked exclusively on Magento since 2012. That means we can quickly assess per project what a logical solution is, what we standardize and where custom work adds value. Senior Magento developers remain ultimately responsible for architecture, security and what goes live. AI accelerates our analysis, QA and component work.
Vendic Elements as a starting route
Vendic Elements is a complete Magento Hyvä shop for €999 per month billed annually, including hosting and maintenance. The foundation is already in place, so we can go live faster and your budget goes to the custom work that sets your shop apart. Not the right choice for every shop, but it is for SME shops that primarily want predictability.
Switching from Magento 1 or another platform
When switching from Magento 1, we build a new Magento 2 shop instead of upgrading. Magento 1 has not been supported since July 2020 and no longer receives security updates. A new Magento 2 build is not an upgrade button, but it is a good moment to critically review your setup. Data migration, integrations and old custom code require attention.
What Magento 2 does better than Magento 1
Magento 2 has a more modern architecture, better performance, cleaner code for custom work, and a more active ecosystem for extensions. With Hyvä on top, the frontend also becomes considerably faster than the standard Magento 2 frontend.
Why Magento 1 is no longer an option
Support for Magento 1 ended in July 2020. Since then no security updates have been released, making Magento 1 shops increasingly risky to run. For new builds, Magento 2 is the logical choice. For existing Magento 1 shops, migration has become unavoidable.
Our vision on Magento 2
Magento 2 is a strong platform, but it is too often stuffed with loose modules and questionable code. Poorly maintained Magento shops become slow, insecure or unaffordable. Our approach is the opposite: fewer external modules, clean choices, reusable patterns through Vendic Elements and targeted AI reinforcement on analysis and QA.
Who you work with at Vendic
A Vendic project is run by senior Magento developers who manage architecture, security and releases. AI does supporting work such as codebase analysis, refactoring proposals and test setup, but makes no final decisions. For design we do not employ in-house designers. AI creates the design under the direction of our senior consultants.
What we focus on
Speed, low maintenance costs and user-friendly admin work are the three things we hold every project accountable to. Elements is built according to Magento coding standards and is maintained centrally, so improvements automatically end up in your shop.
