Huissteden case finalist for Best Performance Improvement’ award

Our client Case Huissteden is Finalist for ‘Best Performance Improvement’ at the Hive UK Awards by Mollie x Hyvä, Huissteden’s migration to Hyvä stands as a showcase of technical craftsmanship and measurable impact.

Before the migration, Huissteden faced major bottlenecks in both Core Web Vitals and user experience. Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and First Contentful Paint (FCP) had major issues. Some pages, such as the Juki sewing machine product page, scored as low as 37 in Google PageSpeed. Interaction delays added friction: adding items to the cart caused a full page reload, interrupting the shopping flow. Meanwhile, managing extensive product data—thousands of machine parts and accessories—strained frontend performance. The task was not only to boost speed but to build a scalable, intuitive foundation capable of handling complex catalogs while meeting Google’s Core Web Vitals standards.

The complete migration to the Hyvä theme transformed both speed and usability. By replacing heavy JavaScript dependencies with Alpine.js and adopting Magewire for server-driven interactivity, the new frontend became leaner and faster. Visitors can now switch product variants or add items to their cart without any page reloads. Key optimizations included refactoring the newsletter subscription flow and offloading delivery date rendering from Magewire to an ESI block to reduce server load. On top of that, a custom-built Product Part Finder allows customers to quickly locate compatible parts by brand and model—enhancing UX without compromising speed.

The outcome is a Hyvä-based storefront that combines outstanding performance with Huissteden’s unique niche identity. Ranked as the third-fastest Magento site globally, the rebuild set a new benchmark for technical excellence and SEO performance—one that now stands recognized among the best in the industry.

Judge’s comments: “It’s lightning fast. One of the quickest Magento sites, anywhere.” — Ollie Hunt
