Aardbeiplantje.nl, the Dutch specialist in strawberry plants, faced a complex setup behind the scenes: three separate webshops — two Magento installations and one WooCommerce site — each with its own stock and management system. This led to duplicate work, inaccurate inventory levels, and limited scalability. The solution? A unified, future-proof Magento installation with Hyvä as the frontend and MSI (Multi Source Inventory) managing a shared stock. Using Hyvä prototyping, we quickly designed the desired flow, interface, and customer experience. Where there were once three standalone systems, there’s now one efficient, fast, and scalable Magento environment.
The highlight of this project is the Delivery Calendar module, developed specifically for Aardbeiplantje’s seasonal business model. Customers can place orders all year round, but deliveries are only possible during certain periods — depending on the type of plant. The module automatically detects the products in the cart and applies the correct delivery calendar: • Fresh plants: available during the growing season (March–October) • Frigo plants: available during the dormant season (November–February) • Accessories: available year-round During checkout, customers see an interactive calendar showing available delivery dates, while unavailable days are automatically hidden. Additional options — such as pickup days for indoor growing and daily order limits — ensure accurate scheduling and efficient stock management.
A smart feature that automatically recognises which type of plant a customer orders and shows when delivery is possible. With an interactive calendar displaying available delivery dates based on seasons and stock, customers get realistic expectations and seamless planning.
