Short answer: we see few advantages anymore for the Legacy Stack and many advantages in using Hyvä.
Long(er) answer:
The Magento 2 frontend stack has received much criticism over the years. Among other things, the choice for RequireJS and Knockout was not equally well received everywhere. That has also been justified feedback. With Hyvä, more modern components such as TailwindCSS and Alpine.js are introduced. Both function as lightweight frameworks that simplify the frontend in a positive way. This criticism of Magento can therefore be crossed out.
Due to the improved frontend stack, performance in both user experience and Google PageSpeed has increased enormously. Pages load ultra-fast and Google PageSpeed scores of 95+ are certainly achievable.
Because it is simpler to work in Hyvä, many projects can also be built and expanded faster. This means we as an agency need less time to develop compared to the Legacy Stack. This reduces the total cost of ownership of a Magento 2 webshop.
Working with TailwindCSS and Alpine.JS is just much nicer for the development team. That is very important to us. Everyone benefits from a Hyvä implementation. Our customers, our team, and the end users.
The Hyvä team is working hard to modernize the Magento community significantly on their own with their ideas and product. The team has a clear vision and the implementation runs smoothly. That is worth a big compliment and it will lead to many more positive developments.
A lifetime Hyvä license costs €1,000. A bargain in our opinion.
You can read it already: starting a new project without using Hyvä is difficult to justify with these advantages. We no longer do that either. All new projects are now built based on Hyvä.
